We spoke to producer Paul Andrews about his latest project, an Indiegogo campaign to fund a documentary on the life and legacy of gaming legend Sir Clive Sinclair.

T1 – What is your name?

PA – Paul Andrews, and I am the producer of SINCLAIR – VISION TO VEGA.

T1 – Hello, Paul! We’re Take One, pleased to meet you.

PA – The Vega is the next step evolution of the Spectrum. Anyone who loved the original consoles will love the Vega, and as well as that, kids also seem to love the fact it contains 1000 games built in, which they can play over and over – and they do enjoy!

T1 – Wow, Paul! That sounds pretty exciting.

…So how will the documentary put the venerated console in context in an accessible but informative way – hopefully this won’t be just another talking head doc with commentary from people who never even owned a Spectrum?

PA – We will be talking to people who grew up on Spectrums, as well as people like Rick Dickinson who designed the Spectrum, but we will also be road testing many of Sir Clive’s inventions including the Spectrum C5, and things like TVs and radios!

T1 – And what perks can backers expect if they contribute to this great project?

PA – There are plenty of perks for backers, which start with the digital download of the film, right through to signed computers!

T1: Wow, Paul, if we had a digital download of the film and a signed computer, we would consider ourselves rich beyond the dreams of Jet Set Willy!

T1 – So, Paul, what’s your fondest personal memory of the Sinclair Spectrum?

PA – I loved my Speccy, and spent some great days and evenings playing so many games both by myself and with my friends, so it holds some really great memories from my teenage years!
